Short Summary: This is Part 1 of a workshop that will provide an introduction to LA-specific ideas and applications for reclaiming more of our street space for people--and how this benefits our residential and commercial populations. We'll give an overview of the 10 tenets we've developed to guide people-prioritizing street design, providing images of current and possible future streets in LA. The session concludes with an introduction to the practical toolbox for use in community redesign of streets.

Presenter Bio: Living Streets is a project of the Green LA Transportation Working Group. We represent a coalition of organizations and professionals committed to reclaiming street space for people, in order to build a healthier, more vibrant and sustainable Los Angeles (http://livingstreetsla.wordpress.com/)
Deborah Murphy is the founder of Los Angeles Walks and works as an urban design/planning consultant.
Jen Petersen is ph.d. candidate in the Department of Sociology at New York University. She studies urban mobility.
Ryan Lehman is an urban planning & real estate development consultant.
Aurisha Smolarski is the LACBC's Campaigns and Communications Director.
Ryan Snyder is a transportation planning consultant.
