Short Summary: Workshop will engage participants in a discussion about parks as part of the streetscape and not separate from the urban landscape. Parks are an important street element and play multiple roles including street furniture, stormwater gardens, sources of open space, etc. The discussion will include existing examples of best practices in community, such as Pico Union Transit Village, Community School parks and outdoor living rooms. The discussion will also cover policy issues including how to reinvigorate public participation in urban planning and call for new standards for publicly owned lands and streets via parks without gentrifying communities.
